Port of Igoumenitsa
Info
The port of Igoumenitsa is geographically the closest port of Greece to Italy and the Balkan countries of the Adriatic Sea, thus constituting an important bridge for people and goods to and from Western Europe.
Annually, 2.5 million passengers and approximately 250,000 trucks move through the port of Igoumenitsa, to and from domestic and foreign ports.
The port's main connections are the Italian ports (Bari, Brindisi, Ancona, Venice, Trieste and Ravenna), as well as the islands of Corfu and Paxos.
The central port, from where the foreign ferry lines are served, has a large passenger station, ticket offices, a taxi stand, the port authority of Igoumenitsa, as well as some souvlaki shops, restaurants and cafes in close proximity to the docks. Automatic luggage storage lockers are available inside the Central Passenger Station of Neos Limenas for the public's service.
The northern port, from where the ships depart for the Ionian ports, is closer to the center of Igoumenitsa and the KTEL Thesprotia station. About 5 minutes' walk from the departure dock of the domestic lines you will find banks (e.g. Piraeus, Ethniki and Eurobank), supermarkets, shops and restaurants.
Both in the central and in the northern port of Igoumenitsa there are Wi-Fi hotspots, which offer free internet access during your stay in the port.
The port of Igoumenitsa is essentially the main gateway of Northern and Central Greece for the movement of passengers and goods to and from the EU countries, via Italy, thus providing sea connections with all ferry ports (Ro Ro traffic) of the eastern coast of Italy. It is a transit center for freight transport between the EU and the Middle East.
