Port of Patra
Info
The port of Patra is one of the largest ports in Greece and serves approximately 700 thousand passengers annually.
The port of Patra has ferry connections with Ionian sea islands, such as Kefallonia and Ithaca, while it is the main passage to Italy from central and southern Greece.
The port of Patra is one of the most modern ports in the Mediterranean and serves domestic and international shipping lines. For the convenience of passengers, the port of Patras is divided into South and North Ports depending on the destination.
The South Port of Patra serves international lines, i.e. routes to and from the Adriatic ports (Ancona, Venice, Bari, Brindisi). Boat berths for Italy are located on the south-west side of the city, at the “New Port”, near the port entrance and the city bus stop. The entrance to the South Port is from Gate A, about 4 km from the center of Patra.
The North Port of Patra serves domestic lines, i.e. itineraries to and from the islands of the Ionian Sea (e.g. Kefalonia and Ithaca). The berths for the ships for the Ionian ports are located on the coast of the center of Patras, in the old port of the city, and are divided into 2 gates: Gate 1 and Gate 7. The entrance to the North Port is from Iroon Polytechniou Street, at Gate 7.
The port of Patra is very close to the city center and is easily accessible by car or on foot, depending on which gate you are heading to.
In the South ("New") Port, from where foreign ferry lines are served, there are many passenger stations, agencies of ferry companies, a city bus stop, a taxi rank and a port authority building. Inside the passenger station you will find a duty free shop, a cafe and an ATM. The passenger station is a 5-minute walk from the departure docks.
The North Limenas, from where the ships depart for the Ionian ports, is located closer to the center of Patra, on the coastal streets of Othonos Amalia and Iroen Polytechniou. In about 10 minutes' walk from the departure pier of the domestic lines you will find pharmacies, KEP, ferry agencies, restaurants, banks and shops.
