The Port of Piraeus is located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa and is the natural port of Athens and the main cargo gateway of Greece.
It is the largest port in Greece and the Mediterranean Sea, but also one of the largest in the world, both in terms of container and passenger traffic. The port of Piraeus has been the most important port of Attica since Archaic times.
Passenger traffic amounts to 20 million visitors per year. Daily ferry routes depart from the port of Piraeus to the Argosaronicos, the Cyclades, Crete, the Dodecanese and the islands of the North Aegean.
