Palukia is located in the eastern part of Salamina and is the main port of the island. The name came from the numerous piles that were used in the past, for anchoring boats, due to the lack of a port.

The port of Palukia hosts Ferries that serve the twenty-four-hour ferry connection with Perama. There is also a direct connection to the port of Piraeus with small passenger boats.
