The port of Fira is located 900 feet below the town of Fira and directly below the caldera. 587 stone-paved steps of a spiral formation lead to it.

The port of Fira is the destination of large cruise ships that leave a large number of tourists every day, who go up to Fira either by traditional donkeys or by cable car.

Excursion boats also depart for the islands of Nea and Palaia Kameni, Thirasia and Oia. Around the pier there are cafes, souvenir shops and taverns.
