In summer we are all looking for beautiful destinations to spend, to have a good time but also to meet new and beautiful places. Greece contains incredible islands, places that can give you unforgettable moments. In this article, I choose to talk about the reasons why I think it is worth visiting Sifnos.
Sifnos is an island located in the Western Cyclades. It is often described as one of the most beautiful islands in Greece and specifically in the Cyclades and I think it deserves this title.
For me, these are the three reasons I characterize as the most important for someone to visit this island.
Kitchen
Sifnos is the place of origin of the great cooker Celemente and has a rich gastronomic tradition. A visit to the island can give you the opportunity to enjoy some of the most beautiful delicacies of the island, such as gingerbreads, pastels, rolls, homemade sweets and crackers and much more.
Handmade ceramics
Sifnos has a long tradition in pottery from antiquity until today. Anyone visiting the island can find many potters and buy statuettes, decorative utensils and various other handicrafts. If one loves pottery, then one must visit Sifnos at some point!
Archaeological interest
Sifnos is an island that will arouse the interest of the visitor who has a love for archeology. Parts of Sifnos such as the ancient mines in the areas of Agios Sostis, Agios Sylvestros, Voreini, Kapsalos, Xero Xylo, Ag. Ioannis, Apokofto are of great interest. Equally important parts of the island, such as the Archaeological Museum of Sifnos in the Castle as well as the Exhibition Hall on the hill of Agios Andreas are open all year round every day except Monday from 8:30 to 15:00. In addition, the island gives the opportunity to those who are inspired by religious sentiment, to visit the various churches and monasteries of the island.
I think these three reasons are enough for someone to decide to visit it this year!
