On the coast of ancient Epidaurus, a stone's throw from Kalymnios beach and at a depth of just 2 meters, lies the sunken city.

Scientists are trying to find the answer to the question why the city sank
The most probable theory seems to be due to the eruption of the volcano of Methana which is located just a few kilometers, just opposite the ancient Epidavros. An underwater eruption occurred off the north coast at around 1,700 AD. resulting in the retreat of the land and the rise of sea level.
